Vintage Valentine & A Giveaway!!

I'm feeling crafty today and wishing I hadn't listed these vintage Valentine boxes on etsy and ebay yesterday as they would be so fun to fill up with trinkets and trims. I have a huge bin of vintage, wood clothes pins and drawers full of vintage trims and laces. I would love to wrap those pins with the trims and fill these boxes up with pretty little notions.
I have a few friends that are always making sweet little gifts to bring when they come visit. My friend, Lu takes pretty cello bags and fills them up with cute little trinkets, pretty soap and a fun colored pencil or vintage trims. She is always so thoughtful. When we get together for a rummage trip of just coffee in a cute place, she arrives baring gifts. Then Dawn, she come over with baked goods, yum! I always have to share with my husband,,,darn! A couple friend's, Cindy & Kristina brought me a tupperware of healthy snacks and Chinese lunch when they knew I was too busy getting ready for a sale to sit down to eat. Thoughtful friends, I love them! I used to be more thoughtful, it seems I have lost it in the last couple of years. I love giving a sweet little gift to a friend. I love the smile that comes from the surprise. So this Valentine Day I think I will do something fun for each of them. Something that tells my friends that I adore them. A Valentine doesn't just have to be a spouse or boy/girlfriend!
So what do you love to receive on Valentines Day? Flowers, Chocolates, wine, a nice card?  Maybe a hand written note that expresses love? Let me know what you would adore for Valentines Day. Leave a comment, describe that perfect Valentines gift....I would  love to do a giveaway for the upcoming holiday, something sweet and thoughtful....a package that makes you smile and feel appreciated! All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what you would adore for Valentines day. Is it an object? A gesture? Help with the kids and house? Chocolate & wine? Massage? A Spa day? A Puppy? Go ahead, type your wish list or dream day idea in the comments. It enters you for a sweet Valentines day giveaway mailed to you just before Friday, February 14th. ~Galoshes

  1. i would welcome anything.....anything that even bespoke love in any of its forms. sometimes people in my life get so busy or don't think that honoring a day set aside for love is important. what i give to myself i make valentines for each of them. takes me the better part of a couple of days. and i let that joy just slide right into the official valentines day. we've been kind of between a rock and a hard spot and so there isn't much in the way of money to spend on anything. i guess if i could say what would be really nice to receive would be dinner out somewhere so i don't have to cook. or i would love those little bags and boxes of trinkets that someone knowing my heart would guess i would love to receive. so i suppose that i will just continue to let the love flow as i create for others and that fills me and takes away the need of any expectations from anyone.

  2. The perfect Valentine's Day gift for me would include my husband and children helping to clean the house and maybe just a simple, thoughtful gift (chocolate?) brought home to me by hubby after work to just say "I'm thinking about you". . .

  3. My husband always gets me a bare-root rose bush to plant. Much better than just a dozen roses! Also, a box of chocolates and/or truffles.

  6. The most romantic gift is a visual reminder of your relationship with that special someone with pictures, words, or some other expression connected by lines or arranged chronologically representing the course of your journey together. It could be pictures of where you first met, first date, wedding, etc. or symbols of your relationship (eg. roller coaster, roses, picnic tables with initials carved in them). It would be really neat to have this reminder in a word document where you can click on links to google maps of special places in your relationship. The end of the presentation is some sort of glimpse into the future...

  7. Just having my hubby acknowledge that it is Valentine's Day would be a wonderful start. LOL. My perfect day would to be treated to a wonderful massage, manicure and pedicure and then an evening together watching a movie and just enjoying time together.

  12. Each Valentine's Day my husband writes me a letter telling me of the the wonderful things (in his eyes) I've done for him in the past year. It's particularly fascinating to read what he remembers, it's not always what I would expect.
We will be married 29 years in March and I treasure each of these letters as a portrait of our love.

  18. My favorite is when my farmer hubby goes to the kitchen and bakes me something. Valentines is the only day of the year he does it. Every other occasion he takes me out.

  19. Valentine's Day is my favorite celebration....I am already planning gifts for family, friends & coworkers! I don't really need to ever be on the receiving end....I prefer to be the gifter! I pick up red & white items at after Xmas sales that I re-invent into heart day gifts! Kari

  20. My husband and I enjoy Valentine's day, it's kind of like our day to celebrate our anniversary too. Our perfect day would be to have a nice dinner with a movie afterwards. We love to snuggle and enjoy snacks while watching a classic movie.
