Practice Practice Practice!

Earlier this year I decided I want to pursue photography as a career, which meant I need to LEARN photography.  So by no means am I anywhere near ready to start charging anyone, but I did just do my first ever photo shoot with someone other than my kids! (my BFF) We had so much fun and it was so nice to have her to say "do this, try that..... no, that doesn't work!" The weather could not have been nicer, though the wind was a bit strong at times.  Anyway.....  I wanted to share a few of my favorite shots from the day.  If any of you REAL photographers have any feedback for me I would be beside myself delighted to hear your advice!

Okay.... so it helps that my model is seriously gorgeous!  So what do you think?  Do I have a future?

  1. I'm no authority on photography, but I will say that it looks like a totally fun and girly day. The best kind of day.

  3. I really love the photos! There are some really unique images & I really like the one by the water & the one that looks like a meadow & your bff is looking up. Very interesting angles.

  13. Hi, I'm a new follower and I love photography too. You are a photographer, your photos are beautiful & your BFF is stunning, what will change is your eye for a great composition, and you will learn all the in's and outs of your camera, and push it to it's ability and that's practice, practice, practice! But remember, you are a photographer!! {www.hootphotography.com}

  17. Wow. These look great. I like all of them, but I especially love the sunbeam-y one. And, unrelated, but where did you get that woven blanket? I love that, too!

  18. Heidi- Your email is blocked so I can't respond to you directly, I hope you see this here..... The blank is even more amazing in person. It's from Pier One and I think she got it a few years back so not sure if it's still available. I've had my eye on it and thought about recreating it several times.

  22. I think these photos are amazing! Keep it up. Take pictures of whatever makes you happy. Start a portfolio if you really want to get into it as a career! I love photography and wish I could do it more but I feel like my camera is not up to my standard. All I know is keep it up!! :) Don't ever let it become work, just make it enjoyable!

    Come check out my blog, I'm just starting out and could always use advice! :)
