♥Technical Difficulties♥

I will be absent a few days while I wait for my ISP to replace my modem.  It sadly passed away yesterday.  After much frustration trying everything I could think of, the technical support called it's time of death and ordered me a new one. I have been told it will be 5-7 days until it arrives. Please pardon my absence during this time.  I'm busy in the craft room and will have lots of fun stuff when I return!  Have a great week.

Shelf Re-Do Hand Embroidery

I love to embroider and knit this time of year.  Getting cozy on the couch with a project to keep my hands busy is very relaxing to me.  Last night I was looking for something quick yet rewarding to embroider.  This is what I came up with.
I loved it, but I didn't know what to do with it at first.  Until I looked up at my plain little shelf that I had been meaning to add a fabric backing to.
And together they made....
You can do this project whether you embroider of not, patterned fabric looks very cute on it's own!

What you need-
Fabric or embroidery piece on fabric
Box Shelf
Fabric Glue
White glue

Apply fabric glue to the back edge of your shelf (skip over the hardware for hanging it). Lay fabric piece over back of shelf and press into glue.
Cut out around the hardware and glue any parts that may fray.  Glue fabric under hangers.
Allow glue to set a few minutes then trim excess fabric around edges.
My fabric was really prone to fraying and I wanted to make sure everything was extra secure so I took plain school white glue and ran a line around the edge (the same edge that you used your fabric glue on, but on top of the fabric this time). The white glue will seal the edges of the fabric and bleed through tot he shelf helping to secure any loose bits.  Allow to dry, hang!
I put the heart over the capital since we live just north of there, but you could put the heart over your home town! Happy Stitching.

CSN Stores Online Shopping

With three growing kids I'm always looking for cheap bedroom furniture.  But quality and service is important to me too, which is why I shop at CSN stores! Most of their items come with free shipping and I don't even have to leave my house to shop at their 200+ stores.

I'm thinking of moving the boys into bunk beds soon.  We are in a small space right now so it would be really nice to free up some floor room.  Check out these fun options.

I want this one for myself! Think they could make it in a king size?
What are you still doing here, go check out CSN stores!

Creative Connection Hand Made Market Photos

Creative Connection put on Hand Made Market to go along with a three day conference in MN.  Although I would have loved to attend the conference, I only made it to the market portion of the weekend, which was amazing! It is the first year for the event, but the artists there were all completely amazing.  I met so many nice people, a few names that I already knew, but the person happen to be away from the table at the moment (Lisa Lenard, if you read this, I was at your booth! Your friend was lovely, sorry I missed you). The girls at the Pleated Poppy and Gussy table were to busy talking to each other so I didn't get to really meet them :(  Overall it was an awesome way to spend the day and I grabbed as many cards as I could so that you guys can find all the great stuff I did!

I have to start out with my favorite booth of the show.  It wasn't her set up that made her stand out to me, but her art itself.  She is just starting to put her work out there so she doesn't sell online yet, but you can find her at her blog, Flutter.  She makes the most amazing altered bird canvas art.

The Silk Purse (who can be contacted at fmarvin@mncable.net, because she too is not yet online! Get on it ladies) had the cutest birthday boxes.  Check out this sweet little girl.
Too Many Suitors had adorable hand embroidered felt ornaments.  They also offered cute onesies and toddler size t-shirts, very nice quality garments used for both!
Artsy Fartsy had to be the funniest booth there, hands down.  There wasn't one piece that we didn't feel fit one, or both, of us! Just check out her etsy shop, you're belly will hurt with laughter. One of our favorite things from the booth....
I fell in love with this seriously cute Halloween dress from Olive and Ollie.

By far the cutest handmade dolls I've seen were from I Sew Lucky.  Her booth was mainly owls, which were super cute too, but it's the dolls that stole my heart.

Vintage by Crystal had a little sign up that said "As seen on Martha", yes THE Martha. And can you believe I had actually seen on of the segments she did! You probably did too! It's the cute little nest stand with the nest and eggs....
She had all kinds of cute little critters.
Lollibag's had the cutest banner for her booth, I just had to share it with you, what a great use of fabric scraps!
City Chic Country Mouse had the cutest aprons, ironing board covers, and sewing machine covers.  I fell in love with a few things in their booth.  Kind of like MJ&G, City Chic is the daughter and Country Mouse is the mother!
Really nice, quality made bags can be found at Jenna Lou Designs.  Here is a peek at some clutches she had, each one was different inside!
A few more random things to show....
The women in this booth were really sweet.  I can not figure out which business card I picked up from you guys though, so shoot me a note and I will link!
The booth above was full of super cute day planners and notebooks.  Every thing I picked up was super cute. And the girls in the booth were really fun too!
Thank you to the Creative Connection for having me! I had a wonderful time and came home with some treasured goodies! I'll share my goodies with you soon, I think that was enough eye candy for today :)

Have you ever heard about links of lodon chain & merchant account? You will have to visit a store which encloses this package as well as provides calvin klein watches & tag heuer watches after clicking on panerai watches.

We're Back!

It will take me a bit to get all my photos in order, but we had a blast at the Junk Bonanza and Handmade Market!  I have so many fun things to show you, but I couldn't wait to stop by and tell you who I met......

Do you recognize her?  I can't image how many people walked by her and didn't, we know her work better than her face.  I was actually checking out how cute her hat was and then realized I knew her face..... a glance at her name tag confirmed it.... HEATHER BAILY! She seriously could not have been a nicer person!  I hate to admit it, but I got a little tongue tied with excitement talking to her.  So sorry Heather if I was talking really fast LOL. I get nervous when talking to strangers sometimes and tend to talk fast then feel like I'm taking their time up and saying good bye before I need to.  I think she may have had lunch with us had I asked, she was just that nice!

And that super cute hat I was admiring by the way.... she said it's an up coming pattern! I will be purchasing it for sure.

I'll be back later with more photos.  Enjoy your Monday.

Snapshot Sunday- Spooky Photo Effects

I mentioned the other day that we recently made a stop at an apple orchard.  While we were there I was trying to get some nice pictures of the kids.... Three kids three and under, I'm sure you can imagine how well they cooperated.  There were a couple cats at the orchard that proved to be an added distraction, but instead of allowing the cat to work against me I thought I would work with it and made this fun Halloween image!

Please Welcome the Idea Room!

Hi there! My name is Amy and I can normally be found over at The Idea Room. I am excited to be here to share with you a DIY Halloween decoration that is very inexpensive and super easy to make. Anyone can do this...really!

I was browsing my local Thrift Store recently and found some plates and a serving platter that was perfect for what I had in mind.

However, the platter was not really my "style" if you will. So, thinking I could remove the decorations fairly easy I snatched this white platter up for a total of .75 cents...Yep...pretty cheap right?

Then I took some 150 grit sand paper and lightly sanded the images off of the platter. I was so pleased with how easily the images came right off.

I was worried that the finish of the platter would be scratched, but to my suprise there was very little roughness.

If you turned the platter to a certain angle you could see that the sheen was a bit duller, but a little glaze or varnish dabbed onto the platter cleared that right up. Yay!

Then I simply took my Silhouette machine and cut out some BOO letters in black vinyl. Super easy! If you don't have acces to vinyl you could simply cut out some black letters on paper and then Mod Podge them right onto the plate. If you go the Mod Podge route, I would strictly use the platter for decoration. With the vinyl lettering you can even serve Halloween treats out of your platter when company comes over.

The fun thing is that it would be so easy to customize this platter for each new Holiday using the words...JOY, XOX, etc.

Thanks Taylor for sharing your readers with me today. Make sure you head on over to The Idea Room today where Taylor is sharing a fun fashion tutorial with my readers!

Junk Bonanza Here We Come!

We (Galoshes and I) are heading out for Junk Bonanza today! As soon as the husband gets home from work to take over with the kiddos we are out the door and headed to MN! While we are there we are also going to hit the Handmade Market as I've been allowed to attend as media and will have TONS of eye candy for you when I return! I plan on finding out just how many photos my huge memory card can hold! I'm yet to reach it's limit, but I'm sure I will this weekend.

We thought it would be fun, since I talk about what opposites we are, to show you what Galoshes and I are packing to wear this weekend (or one outfit each).  It really shows how different we are and the origin of the "MaryJanes and Galoshes" name.

So here is what Galoshes has packed.....
She's Funky Vintage Country Girl.  The boots are thrifted, rosary is vintage, and the little purse is handmade off etsy.

And here is what MaryJanes will be wearing.....
The shoes are thifrted the feather piece on the hat is handmade by me, the necklace is from JCPenny.  We will be doing a lot of walking so there is no use for heels this weekend.

Don't worry there will still be fun things happening here while I'm away! Tomorrow I'll be over at The Idea Room with a fun fashion tutorial, and she will be here with a tutorial of her own!

But physically I will not be around so I leave you with a cute poem a reader sent today!
