Wall Jewelry Hanger Tutorial

I picked up this belt hanger at the thrift store with the original intention of hanging lengths of ribbon.
But I have been looking for a solution for the jewelry I wear most frequently and it turned out to be the perfect solution!
You will have to excuse my slightly blurred photos this time :( My bedroom is impossible to get decent lighting.  I was going to add a wire across above the rings to hang earrings on, but decided this was enough.  If you want to add an earring holder to yours just tap in a couple picture nails and wrap some wire between them like a clothes line.

Here is what I did to turn the belt hanger into a jewelry hanger.
What you need-
Strong clear glue (I used Gorilla Glue two part epoxy)

First I prepared all my parts.  Cleaned the belt holder and created the ring pegs.  For the ring pegs-

Wrap wire around a pencil several times until you create a thick coil, like the ones you see behind doors as a stopper, but a little messier.  Don't wrap it to tight or you will never get it off.
I made two of these.  If your wire doesn't match (mind didn't) you can spray paint the coils.  I painted mine white.  Then I pained the belt hanger yellow and drew my design in pencil.

If you going to paint a white design you might want to try and draw your design with a fabric chalk pen, I had to paint my white kind of thick to cover the pencil lines.
Once it dries attach your ring pegs to the metal part and allow to dry over night.
Hang it on the wall and load it up!

It looks so much better in person, but you get the idea!

  1. I think it looks super cute in pictures! :)

  2. Awesome! I need to do this, I have a cheap little jewelrybox from too long ago, and it no longer holds stuff like it should:)

  3. I love that! I have been looking for something for forever to hang my many many necklaces on and this idea is perfect! I can get a tie rack that will hold even more and spruce it up. Thanks for the great idea! :)

  4. Very cute!! I love that you hand painted that beautiful design on it. Wow!

  10. This is a fabulous idea! It's double purpose because it's not only intended to hang accessories but it serves as a hanging art itself. Great job!
